Welcome to Adobe Drive CC. This document contains late-breaking product information, updates, and troubleshooting tips not covered in the Adobe Drive documentation (see http://helpx.adobe.com/drive.html).
Adobe Drive is a product that enables seamless integration of a digital asset management system with Adobe Creative Cloud™ and Creative Suite® 6 desktop applications. A connected server appears on your computer as a mounted hard drive or mapped network drive. Once connected, you can access server files in several ways. You can use Windows Explorer or Mac OS Finder, as well as Open, Import, Export, Place, Check In, Save, or Save As dialog boxes in Adobe Photoshop®, Adobe Bridge, Adobe Illustrator®, Adobe InDesign®, and Adobe InCopy®.
Adobe Drive CC includes two predefined connectors:
*The Adobe Experience Manager Digital Asset Management Connector enables access to Adobe AEM Digital Asset Management (AEM DAM)
*The CMIS Connector enables basic access to servers that implement the Content Management Interoperability Services (CMIS) specification.
Adobe Drive can be extended to support access to 3rd party asset management systems. Asset management vendors can provide a custom connector for Adobe Drive to enable use of assets stored in their repository. Once customized by a Digital Asset Management (DAM) vendor, Adobe Drive represents the contents of the remote DAM system as a network drive on the user’s file system and enables the use of ’light-up’ user functions inside integrated Adobe desktop applications, such as viewing version history or adding a check-in comment when saving a file. These features are present only when Adobe Drive (along with a DAM vendor’s custom connector) is installed on the user’s machine. Check with your asset management vendor to verify availability of an Adobe Drive CC connector for their system.
This release introduces key fixes, updates, and improvements, including the following:
*Supports both Creative Cloud and Creative Suite 6 versions of the integrated desktop applications.
*Supports 64-bit Mac OS.
*Improved performance in downloading assets from supported DAMs
*An updated Adobe Experience Manager DAM Connector extends support to the latest AEM DAM release (5.6.1) and includes additional performance improvements.
*When integrating with AEM DAM, performance is improved when browsing a large number of assets in Adobe Bridge.
If you were previously using Adobe Drive 4, these updates and improvements (along with key bug fixes) were introduced in the 4.2 release:
*An updated CMIS connector integrates with Alfresco 4.2, IBM FileNet P8, and Microsoft SharePoint 2013.
*New file status icons are shown when viewing managed assets in a platform file browser (Windows Explorer or Mac OS Finder). The new icons show the DAM status of a file that is checked out by the user, checked out by another user, or up-to-date.
(Note that Adobe Drive CC is version 5, and is identified here and in the UI as ’Adobe Drive 5’.)
Adobe Drive 5 is used together with Creative Cloud and Creative Suite 6 desktop applications (Photoshop, InDesign, InCopy, Illustrator, and Adobe Bridge). You cannot install Adobe Drive 5 unless you have already installed one of the desktop applications.
See system requirements: http://www.adobe.com/products/creativecloud.html
*Installation requires 500 MB of available hard-disk space. In Windows, you must have Administrator privileges for installation.
*In Mac OS, if Java is not already installed you are prompted to install it when the machine is restarted after installing Adobe Drive 5. You must do so in order to run Adobe Drive 5.
*An update for Adobe Bridge CC is now available. You must install this update. Without the update, Adobe Bridge crashes on launch or exit when you attempt to use it with Drive.
IMPORTANT: If you have previously installed Adobe Drive 4.x, you must uninstall it before installing Adobe Drive 5. This is because Adobe Drive 5 is installed, by default, in the same location as the previous release: Adobe/Adobe Drive 4/.
To uninstall the previous version:
* In Windows 7, go to Control Panel >Programs and Features, select ’Adobe Drive 4.2’, and click Uninstall/Change
*In Windows 8, go to Settings > Control Panel > Programs > Uninstall a Program, right-click; ’Adobe Drive 4’ and choose Uninstall.
*In Mac OS, go to Applications > Utilities > Adobe Installers and double-click ’Uninstall Adobe Drive 4’
To install your software, download Adobe Drive from:
In Windows:
*Unzip the installation package to a local folder.
*Double-click the file Set-up.exe to launch the install process.
In MAC OS:
*Double-click the downloaded DMG file; this mounts a local volume in MAC OS Finder.
*Go to this volume and double-click Install.app to launch.

*For issues that occur when connecting to a CMIS server, see the CMIS Connector Tech Note
*You cannot create a Collection in Adobe Bridge from files managed by a connected server. [2937176]
*If you install any version of Drive 4 after installing Drive 5, it replaces Drive 5. You must uninstall Drive 4 and reinstall Drive 5. You cannot have both versions installed at the same time. You should not need them, since Drive 5 works with both CC and CS6 desktop applications. [3562735]
*After editing and saving a managed asset in Illustrator or Photoshop, an error message appears: ’File has been modified outside Illustrator. Do you want to continue?’ or ’The disk copy of [Filename] was changed since you last opened or saved it. Do you want to save anyway?’ . You can safely ignore this message. [3560232]
*When you connect to or disconnect from a server through the Adobe Drive Connect UI, if Adobe Bridge is open it switches to the front and back of the screen multiple times. [3177120]
